Using Photomatix Trial: A Step-by-Step Guide to Creating HDR Preset

Photomatix trial offers a range of methods and settings to create stunning High Dynamic Range (HDR) images from bracketed shots. While it may take some experimentation, the Fusion/Natural method has potential for capturing window views with great highlight detail. However, it's essential to keep an eye on contrast levels as they can quickly become over-saturated.

To start, close the Adjust & Preview window and save a preset by clicking on the Preset dropdown menu and selecting Save Preset. Then, adjust the settings for Highlights (-10), Shadows (10), Local Contrast (0), Color Saturation (0), and Highlights Depth (4).

In the Method dropdown, select Fusion/Real-Estate to create an HDR image with more pronounced contrast. After merging the images, you'll see a preview of the end result.

To batch process within Photomatix, you need to create an HDR Preset that will be applied to your blended photos. This preset can be adjusted to suit your needs, including naming and specifying a subfolder for organization.

When exporting full-size JPGs before batch processing through Photomatix, make sure to set the export options to 100% quality with type JPEG and no cropping. Finally, apply two important adjustments when importing: 'photomatix trial'.
